Using the concept of slow running to understand how knowledge of place is acquired, I began to explore the unknown area of Caen through immersing myself in the touch of the wind, the brushing against my body of early morning dew, the sound of owners talking to their dogs, the smell of the boulangerie as oppose to the usual visual clues. Creating this alternative cartography began organically, sheet of paper added as necessary, lines drawn as sensed directionally rather than being accurate. It creates somewhere not anywhere.
